Solusar, Tionne

Category: Characters
Type: Near-Human
Affiliation: Jedi Knights

One of Luke Skywalker's first Jedi apprentices at his praxeumon Yavin 4, Tionne was a near-human minstrel and historian. A native of the planet of Rindao, Tionne was distinguished by her long, silvery hair and her opalescent eyes, which appeared to have been carved from mother-of-pearl. As a child, she learned about the Force from her grandmother, who instilled in Tionne the passion for ancient Jedi legends. This was unusual, for all knowledge of the Jedi was thought to have been eradicated from her homeworld. Because of her retellings of the Jedi histories, Tionne's grandmother was executed by Imperial stormtroopers in a public square. Tionne took her grandmother's stringed instrument and fled the planet, searching for any trace of information on the Jedi.

She had very little Force-sensitivity, but Luke saw enough promise in her that he invited her to help discover the ancient Jedi teachings. She eventually became a full Jedi Knight, but her powers were somewhat limited. Nevertheless, she put her talents to good use, serving as a historian and administrator of the Yavin 4 praxeum. She eventually fell in love with Kam Solusar, and the two were married shortly before the Yuuzhan Vong invaded the galaxy. Kam and Tionne served as the caretakers of the youngest Jedi trainees during the invasion, gathering them aboard the Errant Venture and eventually settling them into a new base at the Maw Installation. Tionne and Kam were ultimately among the handful of Jedi Knights to survive the conflict with the Yuuzhan Vong.

In the wake of the Yuuzhan Vong war, Tionne and Kam agreed to become the leaders of the small Jedi training facility established on Ossus. There, they were in charge of the training of the younglings who were learning to become Jedi Knights. Their mission was one of education and exploration, and so they were surprised when Major Serpa of the Galactic Alliance Guard arrived to take control of thre facility. Their surprise turned to shock and fear when Serpa took several students hostage and threatened their lives, after Grand Master Luke Skywalker defected the Jedi Order from the Alliance. He emphasized his point by shooting Tionne in the leg when she tried to intervene, then shooting off one of her arms and the other leg when the other Jedi refused to accede to his demands.

After Jaina Solo, Zekk, and Jagged Fel were able to defeat Serpa's forces, they rescued the Solusars and transported them to the Jedi Order's temporary base on the Forest Moon of Endor. There, both Tionne and Kam, who had been shot three times by Serpa, made slow but steady recoveries.
